Collecting and disseminatingnoise knowledge

It is not just with measures on the line and on trains that IPG-Rail makes transport quieter but also be gathering and actively disseminating knowledge. With the help of measuring posts on the line, IPG-Rail measures the amount of noise produced by passing trains. In this way, we can see if the noise measures we have taken actually work. The knowledge gathered in disseminated via workshops, IPG-Rail meetings and the Rail Noise Knowledge Centre (Kenniscentrum Spoorgeluid). IPG-Rail is also active at European level in order to stimulate the application of IPG measures among others.

Rail Noise Knowledge Centre: no longer rediscovering the noise wheel

By gathering the important knowledge in the field of noise in a digital Knowledge Centre, the noise wheel need no longer be rediscovered in the future. The objective is to stimulate cost-effective, innovative techniques and methods for limiting rail noise. The target groups of the Knowledge Centre are mainly government organizations, consultancies and railway companies.
For access to the digital Knowledge Centre target groups can apply to Chiel Roovers on chiel.roovers@prorail.nl
