The tyres of the vehicle and the vehicles themselves can make a major contribution to reducing noise on main roads. If all cars and trucks are fitted with quieter tyres, noise production is roughly 2 to 3 decibels lower. This also provides a considerable saving because less money need be spent on noise measures on and next to the roads.

Quiet tyres are available in just about all tyre sizes. They are not more expensive than other tyres and are just as safe. IPG-Weg is committed to stimulating the use of quiet tyres in the Netherlands. IPG-Weg is making agreements with companies such as Kwik-Fit, Profile, Euromaster and Leasplan about this. Internationally, IPG-Weg is committed to tightening up noise requirements and testing methods.
